Callie Galvez is an American cellist based in Los Angeles, California.
She received her education on scholarship at the Cole Conservatory at CSU Long Beach under cellist Dr. David Garrett and at Boston University with cellist Marc Johnson. During her enrollment, she was appointed cellist for the University String Quartet, principal in the BCCM Opera Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, and formed the active Calure piano trio. Her final semester at conservatory was highlighted by an orchestral tour as principal cellist and student soloist in Korea. In 2014, Galvez moved to Berlin, Germany participating in master classes around the country and performing live music in France, Germany, Italy, and Czech Republic. Galvez also spent time living in New York City where she recorded with local musicians and bands, joined the innovative musical organization “Group-Muse,” and was a personal intern of Grammy vocal coach, Wendy Parr. In 2016, Galvez has performed at LA Union Station for Bach in the Subways, SOKA performing arts center, and the LA Violoncello Honors Society.
Callie Galvez currently lives in Los Angeles studying under Robert deMaine, principal cellist of the LA Philharmonic. She is a member of La Mirada and Bellflower Symphonies, cellist for Calure piano trio, Chamber Music Los Angeles, and guest artist for the Biola University Honors Quartet. She also enjoys teaching as the cello instructor at Hills Academy of Music and AMUSE Music Center.
